Mom Prom offers a powerful reminder of how community, creativity, and fun can come together for a good cause.
Delhi District Secondary School (DDSS) is hosting a new fundraiser called Mom Prom on Friday, June 6, from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Delhi German Home. Open to all women 19 and older, the nostalgic event supports the DDSS Arts Department, helping fund music, drama, visual arts, and digital media. DDSS English and Drama teacher — and Mom Prom co-organizer — Jenna Thompson explains the team was looking for a new and fun way to fundraise.
The event isn’t limited to just moms — all women over 19 from across Norfolk County are welcome. The evening will feature licensed alcohol service, dancing, raffle prizes, games, and more. An experienced DJ will be spinning hits from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, offering a high school throwback party atmosphere. Wondering what to wear? Thompson tells us anything goes.
While some final details — including games and prizes — are still being confirmed, tickets are now on sale for $20 on Eventbrite. You can also find a QR code on the DDSS Facebook page or contact the organizers directly via their personal profiles: Jenna Thompson or Trish Bartik. The goal isn’t just to raise money — it’s to bring the women of Norfolk together for a fun and empowering night out. Thompson, says it’s a great way to start your summer.
Funds from Mom Prom will support much-needed resources for DDSS arts programs. The drama department has just three working microphones for a 21-member cast, while music needs new and repaired instruments. Visual and digital arts aim to expand equipment and supply budgets. Organizers also welcome community contributions to support the event’s success.
Mom Prom’s theme is a “blast from the past,” celebrating the music and fashion trends from the 70s to the early 2000s. Organizers are seeking help spreading the word, as well as donations for prizes and tacky decorations.
Whether you’re reliving your prom night or dancing for the first time in years, this event promises music, memories, and meaningful impact. So grab your friends, dust off your best vintage outfit, and get ready to support the arts!
