The public is invited to securely dispose of their personal and financial documents at the upcoming Shredding Day.
The event is hosted by Crime Stoppers of Haldimand and Norfolk, in partnership with Norfolk Shredding.
The community event will take place on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, in the old Zellers parking lot at 129 Queensway East in Simcoe.
Participants can bring boxes of documents for on-site shredding by Norfolk Shredding’s mobile trucks.
The cost is $10 per box or by donation, and all proceeds will stay in the community to support Crime Stoppers’ efforts to combat crime and keep residents safe.
This annual event is a proactive way to prevent identity theft, which remains one of the fastest-growing forms of crime.
By shredding sensitive paperwork — such as old tax files, bank statements, and personal records — individuals can ensure their private information doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
In addition to paper, the event accepts a wide range of shreddable materials, including:
Plastic sleeves
Spiral and plastic bindings
Duo-tangs and file folders
ACCO clips (alligator clips)
Paper clips, staples, or elastics
Crime Stoppers emphasizes that all proceeds will remain local, directly supporting initiatives and operations within Haldimand and Norfolk.
