As Canadians prepare to head to the polls, Conservative incumbent Leslyn Lewis is asking voters in Haldimand–Norfolk to “stay the course” and re-elect her as their Member of Parliament.
Lewis, who has represented the riding since 2021, describes the experience as the “honour of a lifetime,” pointing to countless moments of connection with residents at local fairs, community dinners, and volunteer-led events.
Among the highlights of her time in office, Lewis said she was particularly moved by the opportunity to award King Charles III Coronation Medals to outstanding members of the community whose contributions have made a lasting impact both locally and nationally.
In her bid for re-election, Lewis is emphasizing her record of advocacy for farmers, workers, and our rural community.
She stresses that while progress has been made, key challenges remain — including addressing the rising cost of living, tackling high taxes, combating crime, and defending local industries from U.S. tariffs.
Lewis argues that Haldimand-Norfolk needs a strong conservative voice in Ottawa to push back against Liberal policies that hurt rural ridings.
She notes her involvement in opposing the carbon tax, including seconding Bill C-234 and supporting over 50 motions to fight against it.
Lewis also wants residents to know that the carbon tax has not been taken away, simply paused, and could come back unless something is done.
She also said those same out of touch policies hurt our local gunowners, lumping them in with actual criminals.
Lewis has been spending this election campaign going door to door hearing from the residents.
During those visits, she has heard their growing concerns.
Lewis says a Conservative government would prioritize affordability by cutting taxes, reducing the deficit, scrapping the carbon tax, and helping seniors keep more of their income tax-free.
She also pledges to defend Canadian industries and work to make the economy more self-reliant.
Voters officially head to the polls on Monday.
