Lily Eggink is once again stepping into the political arena, representing the Christian Heritage Party (CHP) in the Haldimand–Norfolk riding for the upcoming federal election.
A lifelong resident of the region, Eggink is a small business owner, mother, and an active member of her local church.
She first entered into the world of politics in 2019 when she noticed there was not a pro-life candidate on the ballot she could vote for.
In her candidacy statement, she strongly opposes the policies of Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre.
Anticipating criticism about vote-splitting, Eggink points to previous election results and argues that if more Christians voted according to their convictions rather than strategic fears, it would send a strong message to Parliament.
Eggink is knowledgeable in the farming world and volunteers with Hope Harbour Ministries, assisting in weekly outreach programs to feed the homeless in the Haldimand-Norfolk area.
These are some of the areas she says needs more focus from government.
She also wants to protect freedom of religion.
She spoke about a proposed bill that could see an end to religions losing charitable status, something she says would hurt many people in need.
Lily Eggink’s campaign invites voters in Haldimand–Norfolk to consider faith and conviction as guiding principles at the ballot box.
