Ontario is shifting gears toward economic self-reliance in the face of U.S. trade instability, Premier Doug Ford’s throne speech revealed Tuesday.
Delivered by Lt.-Gov. Edith Dumont, the speech blamed U.S. tariffs and protectionism for economic uncertainty and emphasized building a more competitive Ontario.
Plans include massive investments in infrastructure, energy production, and a new tunnel under Highway 401.
The first major bill will target interprovincial trade, aiming to eliminate barriers and fast-track skilled workers from across Canada.
