The Federal Court of Appeal has rejected an effort to overturn Canada’s 2020 ban on more than 1,500 models of firearms considered too dangerous for civilian use.
The ban, introduced by the federal Liberals, targeted guns linked to mass shootings.
A coalition of firearm owners, businesses, and sport shooters had appealed a 2023 decision that upheld the ban.
The court sided with Ottawa again this week, calling the original ruling thorough and persuasive, keeping the restrictions firmly in place.
