Canadian singer-songwriter Marshall Dane is bringing a unique and inclusive musical experience to Capitol 33 Theatre in Delhi on March 16th. His performance will be more than just a concert—it will be a blend of storytelling, inspiration, and connection, made accessible to both deaf and hearing audiences through American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
Dane thinks it’s beautiful when hearing and deaf people can share an experience together in the same room at the same time. He says the ASL interpreter helps bridge the gap, making the performance more inclusive for everyone.
His shows go beyond entertainment, blending life experiences with music to create an atmosphere where everyone feels included. The audience’s varied reactions reflect this diversity, as Dane recalls the first time he had an interpreter.
A key part of this experience is the ASL interpreter, who will be on stage with the band throughout the show. Music interpretation is a specialized skill, and not all interpreters can bring lyrics, rhythms, and emotions to life. Dane compares the interpreter to another instrument or band member.
By working alongside Dane, the interpreter ensures that every audience member experiences the emotion and meaning behind the music. This collaboration is a celebration of music, storytelling, and inclusivity.
