Today is Ash Wednesday – the start of Lent.
Yesterday we spoke to Associate Pastor Tamille Richardson at Evergreen Heights Christian Fellowship about Shrove Tuesday and we continue our chat on a very important day to many people in our community.
Richardson’s says for many people in Norfolk, these next few weeks are about reflection.
While many people recognize Lent, this is a very individual journey that looks different for everyone.
Richardson says while Lent is connected with letting go, it could also be a good opportunity to add important things to your life.
She said that these next few weeks can be very eye opening for those who embark on the journey.
Ash Wednesday is a day where Christians, traditionally, attend church services and are given ashes in the shape of a cross on their forehead.
Ashes are displayed as a way of proving humility and repentance, usually accompanies with the wording similar to “”Remember, man, that thou art dust, and to dust thou shalt return.”
