Norfolk County is set to receive $2.3 million in funding as part of the Ontario government’s broader $75.5 million initiative to help municipalities wind down encampments and create more emergency shelter spaces and affordable housing units.
The funding aims to provide vulnerable individuals with appropriate short- and long-term housing alternatives while restoring safety and order to public spaces.
The $2.3 million share will be directed towards expanding local shelter services and supporting affordable housing initiatives to ensure those currently living in encampments have access to safe and stable accommodations.
The funding will support ready-to-build projects that are close to completion, ensuring they open their doors faster and provide immediate relief to those in need.
