
Norfolk County OPP has arrested two individuals in connection with a series of suspicious fires, including one at a vacant barn in Haldimand County on January 26.
Matthew Smith, 30, and Chad Reimer, 43, both of Norfolk County, face multiple charges.
Smith has been charged with Arson – damage to property (11 counts) and Fail to comply with Probation Order.
Reimer also faces Arson – damage to property (11 counts) and has been charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The arrests followed the stop of a pickup truck matching the description of a vehicle linked to earlier fires. Police believe the suspects are connected to several incidents across Norfolk County since November 2024.
The accused remained in custody, where they attended a bail hearing in Simcoe today (Jan. 27).
