Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Bobbi Ann Brady is upset, but not surprised, by the announcement that Amy Martin will be the candidate for the Progressive Conservatives in the upcoming provincial election.
We spoke to Brady about the nomination, which she said they had been expecting for some time.
Brady cited a specific example from the summer as her first tell-tale sign of something allegedly happening behind the scenes.
Brady spoke to us in detail about this at the time, which can be found here.
Martin did address this issue with the radio station; you can read those comments here.
Brady also takes issue with the fact that Martin was given the spot as the PC candidate when she had heard there were many hats in the ring.
During the last election in 2022, Brady ran as an Independent in large part because of this process, as Haldimand County Mayor Ken Hewitt was appointed the candidate.
This decision caused, at the time, sitting MPP and PC party member Toby Barrett to endorse an Independent over his own party’s nomination.
You can read more about Brady’s concerns with Hewitt’s nomination when she first announced she was running here.
Much like the Hewitt nomination, Brady also questions the Ford government’s decision to bring in Martin and their trend of selecting people not considered traditionally Conservative.
We have reached out to Martin for an interview and comments on some of the questions surrounding her nomination.
