Canada’s privacy watchdog has begun investigating cyberattacks on the Canada Revenue Agency that led to more than 30-thousand privacy breaches.
The breaches date back to 2020 and were first reported in May of this year.
The investigation will look at whether Canada Revenue Agency met its obligations under the federal Privacy Act.
The office of the privacy commissioner adds that people can protect themselves by checking their revenue agency accounts for any suspicious activity.
