Yummy Freeze in Simcoe may be known by a lot of kids in the community as a go to spot for their freeze dried candy – but it’s grown to much more than that.
NorfolkToday spoke with co-owner Alex Miranda about how the store has transformed from a small freeze-dried business into so much more.
It’s incredible to think of this shop, which has such a wide variety now, wasn’t even a thought a few years back at the Miranda household.
This whole journey began with just a goal of getting their son an alternative way to eat fruit.
The reception to Yummy Freeze’s products has been a blend of curiosity and excitement. Freeze-dried treats, still new to many in the area, have gained popularity, especially through exposure on platforms like TikTok.
Kids, in particular, are drawn to the bold colors, intense flavors, and the fun, crunchy texture that sets these treats apart from traditional candy.
This passion by kids is what helped pushed them to go into a business, as they tested the waters a year ago at the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show.
Since they first opened up back in November, they’ve also undergone a move.
They are now in a bigger building on Norfolk Street with much higher foot traffic.
Miranda says with the expansion of the store, and items they can carry, they wanted to make sure to highlight all the great stuff happening around the area.
