Haldimand County celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Hagersville Library + Active Living Centre at Grant Kett Park today. This new facility, located in one of the county’s fastest-growing communities, will be the first indoor space dedicated to recreation, wellness, leisure, and social activities.
The project, approved in the 2021 capital budget, has been a collaborative effort involving the Haldimand County Library Board, a Community Fund-Raising Committee, and local stakeholders. The $15 million facility has been designed to serve residents and visitors of all ages and abilities, with input from neighbouring communities, including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Six Nations of the Grand.
The community was tasked with raising $1.5 million towards the project, and the fund-raising committee surpassed that goal by raising over $1.6 million. The new centre aims to provide a welcoming, inclusive space for personal growth, social connections, and community engagement. The project is a significant milestone for Haldimand County and its residents.
Construction of the Hagersville Library + Active Living Centre is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2025.
