The Norfolk County Fire Department is thrilled to announce that 42 of our dedicated volunteer firefighters undertook official certification testing for NFPA Firefighter I & II courses this previous Saturday.
This comprehensive testing marks the culmination of extensive training and demonstrates the commitment and expertise of our firefighting team.
Among the participants, 17 firefighters undertook the Firefighter Level I examination, while 25 challenged the Firefighter Level II (advanced) examination. The NFPA Firefighter I & II certification ensures that our firefighters are trained to the same high standards as career firefighters.
This certification testing covers essential skills such as the use of personal protective equipment, operation of self-contained breathing apparatus, ladder operations, auto extraction techniques, and fire extinguishment procedures.
Norfolk County congratulates our firefighters on this significant achievement.
Their hard work and dedication have not only met but exceeded the high standards of NFPA certification.
This milestone is a testament to their commitment to excellence and their vital role in keeping Norfolk County safe.
We are honored to have such a remarkable team and look forward to their continued contributions to our community.
Fire Chief Gord Stilwell:
“I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our dedicated firefighters and in-house instructors for their hard work and commitment. Your contributions are invaluable, and we are incredibly proud of the role you play in keeping Norfolk County safe and well-protected.
As we celebrate this achievement, we also want to remind the community that we are currently recruiting volunteer firefighters. Applications are open until August 26th, and a year from now, you could be working towards this very certification. If you are interested in making a difference and becoming part of our dedicated team, we encourage you to apply.”
