The Lighthouse Festival has announced a significant change to its upcoming Community Show. Initially planning to stage “Evil Dead: The Musical,” the festival has decided to postpone this production due to the multiple performances of the same show in close proximity to the Lighthouse Theatre. Instead, the festival will present the Tony Award-winning musical “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,” directed by Derek Ritschel, as the 2025 Community Show. This critically acclaimed production will open in April 2025, promising an unforgettable and hilarious theatrical experience for the community. “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” is a witty and charming musical that follows the uproarious story of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by eliminating the eight relatives standing in his way.
In line with the festival’s commitment to fostering local talent, open auditions for the production will be held later this fall. Derek Ritschel expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are incredibly excited to bring this award-winning musical to Lighthouse Festival. ‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder’ is a perfect blend of comedy, clever writing, and fantastic music. It’s a show that will not only entertain but also bring our community together in the shared joy of live theatre and laughter.” Tickets for the show will go on sale in late 2024, with more updates to be provided on the Lighthouse Festival’s website and social media channels. The festival remains dedicated to delivering high-quality entertainment and fostering a love for the arts within the community.
