34-year old, Brodie Chambers, was sentenced to 18 months in jail for embezzling more than $90k from the Simcoe and District Youth Soccer Club while serving as treasurer in 2021-2022. Chambers falsified documents, forged signatures and made fraudulent transactions to cover debts and fund vacations. His actions jeopardized the club’s finances and trust, affecting more than 1000 youth players.
Judge Colette Good rejected a community sentence proposal, deeming it inappropriate. Chambers was also ordered to pay the club $500 monthly upon release and barred from work or volunteer positions that handle finances in any capacity for five years.
