There are two-and-a-half million people in Ontario who don’t have a family doctor.
That’s according to the Ontario College of Family Physicians, which says an additional 160-thousand people in the province are without a doctor since the last count was released six months ago.
The college also says a separate study has found 670-thousand people in Ontario have a family doctor but have to travel more than 50 kilometres in order to see them.
College C-E-O Deepy Sur says while the provincial government has helped to reduce family doctor workloads through investment in primary care teams, more needs to be done.
