The red and white of Canada’s flag may be a callback to the two nations its founders came from.
But as we head into the Canada Day holiday, Canadian Museum of History curator Xavier Gelinas says there’s no authoritative source that explains why the country drapes itself in red and white.
He says the choice of the Maple Leaf is much less ambiguous, as the maple tree is native to the eastern two-thirds of the country.
