“My armour is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail is a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!” —J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
The dragons invaded Norfolk this past weekend, but less Tolkien’s description and more fun! The Invasion of the Dragons: Dragon Boat Race, hosted by the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise was well attended yesterday (Sunday). The event raised money for the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise, and the Cancer Support and Resource Program.
The event took place on Shadow Lake in Waterford, and check out some of these great team names: The Goat Boat, Drag’ins Across the Pond, Pour Decisions and Rock Ness Monsters.
The “A” Division’s top three teams were:
1st Place – Out on Bale (Norfolk OPP), time 1:09.44
2nd Place – The Heat, time 1:09.52
3rd Place – The Dragonflies, time 1:09.70
Congratulations to all the teams and the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise for another successful event!
