Today is the first day the Delhi Kinsmen Pool has been open to the public since 2022.
Last year saw the outdoor pool shutdown for the season as big renovations took place with the pool itself and the washroom and change rooms nearby.
On Friday, a special ribbon cutting ceremony was had for the pool with Delhi Councillor Mike Columbus on hand with a gift – a golden shovel given to the Kinsmen of the day by a famous Canadian singer.
What makes this pool opening so special is because, for a period in time, the future of the pool was up in the air.
Mayor Amy Martin was one of those advocated to keep the pool opening when she sat as a Port Dover councillor in 2019.
Touring the facility, she was blown away.
Martin couldn’t speak highly enough about funding provided to the county from the Trillium Foundation as well, which was a big motivator to keep the large project rolling.
MPP Bobbi-Ann Brady was also all smiles at the outdoor pool with the changes.
She is happy to see a bright future for the project, and her inner child is pleased to some changes as well.
OTF funding, in part, provided upgrades to the Delhi Kinsmen Pool with renovations to the change house which included accessible washrooms and changerooms, a new liner, pool systems pump and filtration system.
