Norfolk county’s Special Olympic athletes have returned home from the Provincial Spring Games – and they brought some hardware with them.
That was coach Shirley Shaw.
That is nearly 50 medals amongst the large team who had some stiff competition with over 700 athletes at the event.
As Shaw noted, an anonymous individual has put down money for water time at the pool, giving our athletes much more time to train than previous years.
This is far from Shaw’s first trip to the Provincial Games, but she couldn’t help but be amazed by how well her team did.
She also broke down for us some special milestones.
She also gave a special shout out to Constable Jeremy Renton, who works closely with our local Special Olympic athletes.
He was there as part of the torch run when the games began, and stuck around the next day to stand on the deck and help cheer on the team.
