Insurance fraud prevention group Equite Association reports more than 70-thousand cars were stolen in Canada last year.
It found the number of stolen vehicles surged 48 per cent in Ontario between 2021 and 2023.
Insurers have said the majority of vehicles are being stolen from the province and neighbouring Quebec, and then exported through the Port of Montreal.
