It was announced in April of last year that the Norfolk Family Health Team was moving to Simcoe in 2024. This left a vacancy at the Delhi Community Health Centre (DCHC) and the Building Administrator and Board of Directors wanted to fill it in a way that would benefit the community.
Currently, the DCHC Public Walk-In Clinic only sees patients on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, but they receive calls looking for walk-in service every single day. Having the walk-in clinic open five or six days a week would effectively address a need in the community. Building Administrator, Lori Yeo explains what DCHC decided to do.
Setting up what is essentially a new full time clinic, in an unfurnished space, comes with an abundance of costs. The DCHC knew the expanded walk-in clinic was needed, but were uncertain how to secure funding.
Enter the Delhi-LaSalette Knights of Columbus, who have made a donation of $100,000 to the DCHC. This donation will ensuring the great community project will move forward. We asked Grand Knight, Alvelino “Alfie” Marques why they chose to support DCHC?
The donation from the Knights of Columbus is a huge show of support not only for DCHC, but the community as well. Yeo stressed how wonderful it is to have the community’s support.
Updates are scheduled for the fall of this year and Delhi should see a full-time walk-in clinic in operation by January of 2025.
