Amie Ferris of the Port Dover Kinsmen presented the club’s proposal to fundraise and build a splash pad to Council-in-Committee yesterday. The water attraction would have a nautical theme and be placed in the south-west corner of the Kinsmen Park in Port Dover. Ferris highlighted the need for projects like this in the community.
The Kinsmen have pledged themselves to creating this addition to the park.
A fundraising goal of $700k is no small task. The Kinsmen hope to open the splashpad in the second quarter of 2026, and that timeline is strategic to take advantage of their biggest fundraisers.
Ferris explained that they would not be asking the county for any direct funding. Instead, the Kinsmen have a few requests for the county to assist them in bring this project to fruition:
– upgrade the water infrastructure at the park with an appropriate water line
– waive fees for any fundraisers hosted for the splash pad
– assist the Kinsmen in applying for grants
– the county would then maintain and service the splash pad moving forward
Council-in-Committee accepted the proposal for further consideration.
