Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says he plans to move a non-confidence motion in the House of Commons if the Liberal government does not end its forthcoming tax increases on food, gas and heat.
Speaking from behind a podium bearing a sign with the slogan “spike the hike,” Poilievre says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has one last chance to stop the consumer carbon levy set to go up on April 1st.
It will add about three cents to the price of a litre of gasoline.
The speech follows a new ad blitz and a series of back-to-back rallies Poilievre held across Atlantic Canada, where almost one-third of homes rely on home heating oil, a fuel the government announced last fall it would exempt from the levy for three years.
