Everyone knows when money is tight, an unexpected bill can be a nightmare.
The same thing goes for our elected officials at council chambers, as they were faced with another update for the Port Dover Water Treatment plant with staff asking for an additional $5 million to get the project done.
That was Councillor Alan Duthie, noting the ever climbing bill for the project.
He said that this is not a one time thing, but something that keeps happening where a project gets underway only for council to be told weeks in that more money is needed.
Staff assured council that this will be the last request for additional funding and that moving forward, changes are being made behind the scenes so that costly surprises such as this won’t happen.
You can read the full report highlighting the need for additional funding here.
The plan is to reduce the scope of other projects in Simcoe to make up for this additional $5 million needed.
