A lock it or lose it reminder from the Norfolk OPP.
On late Friday or early Saturday, someone went to a Charlotteville Road 8 address and gained entry into a vehicle – stealing a wallet and later using banks cards to make several purchases at local businesses.
In subsequent days, officers investigated comparable theft incidents at locations on Middleton-North Walsingham Townline Road in Walsingham, Simcoe Street in Middleton, and 2nd Concession Road in Langton.
Additionally, there was a reported attempted theft from a motor vehicle at an address on Norfolk County Road 21 in Langton as well.
The OPP is urging all residents in the community to ensure that their vehicles are locked, and valuables are removed.
Here are some straightforward proactive measures that can be implemented to minimize the risk of becoming a victim:
- Do not leave an unattended vehicle running.
- Ensure your doors are locked.
- Roll up your windows.
- Keep valuable items out of sight.
- Store your registration and proof of insurance in your wallet or purse, not in the glove box.
- Keep your keys in your pocket.
- When parking at night or for extended periods, always choose well-lit areas.
