The pandemic impacted the work life of many people and for Michael Howe, owner of Howie Bins – Junk Removal, Estate Cleanouts and Bin Rentals, it was a sign for him to make the leap to being a small business owner.
And don’t let the name fool you: bins are not the main part of this business.
When it comes to the size of the job, there is nothing they can’t handle.
While he is confident in the fact that his business is an essential one, starting his small business was not without its struggles, and he too has had to pivot.
One may think that a junk removal company would be fast friends with the local landfills, but despite the nature of the business, they do make every effort to be conscientious of the environment.
This means that a lot of the items are either repurposed, or they are donated to local organizations who can put them to good use.
And that is not where their caring ends.
They are also becoming quickly known as a supporter of local events by providing bins.
And they recognize that when the community comes together, everyone benefits.
Like most small business owners, Michael has some ideas about the future.
But while he always has an eye on the future, he is thrilled with his success so far.
Michael also has some words of wisdom to anyone out there sitting on the fence about starting their own small business.
