
Norfolk County’s former Mayor is speaking out as our elected officials are set once again to debate the provinces Housing Pledge today during a special council meeting.
Two weeks ago, council voted down this pledge and the strings that it came with – namely the Strong Mayor powers.
Former Mayor Kristal Chopp went online to voice her opinion on the matter, saying she is less concerned about a discussion about Strong Mayor powers than she is about the pledge to built 5700 homes by 2031.
She said she knows from her former position that Norfolk County does not have the ability to accommodate that rate of growth, and noted a recent 5 year moratirum on growth we had.
Chopp said they need to build the massive infrastructure needed in Norfolk for growth before approving the homes.
