The Special Investigations Unit has been called out following an incident in Brantford.
Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a call to report a suspicious vehicle located at the intersection of Market Street and Grey Street on Saturday, finding a lone, unconscious man in the driver’s seat.
The male became conscious and fled the scene in his vehicle, colliding with a police cruiser, parked vehicle, and fire hydrant.
The accused then vacated the vehicle and continued to flee the scene on foot.
The man was apprehended shortly after, with suspected cocaine on him, and charged.
As the accused was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries, as required by law, Brantford Police Service has notified the province’s SIU which has invoked its mandate.
