The annual Pottahawk party goes this weekend, and local police want to make sure everyone is safe while out on the waters.
That was Sgt. Ed Sanchuk.
He added that there will be an increased police presence both on and off the water.
That safety equipment should be on, as he said it is too late to put a life jacket on when you are already in the water.
Sanchuk added that he wants everyone to be safe, have fun, and return home without any charges.
Operating a boat impaired carries the same penalties as driving a vehicle while impaired.
If you are in attendance and see an intoxicated driver or watercraft operator, call 911.
Safety lanes for emergency services will be open for police use only. Vessel operators are reminded not to block those lanes.
