Reports have been emerging about an OPP officer was asked not to attend a career day event at a Grand Erie school.
The Grand Erie District School Board has released a statement on the matter.
In the release, they say the initial communication with the parent was not correct and they apologized for the miscommunication.
They add the parent was told directly that a mistake was made and they were welcome in the classroom in uniform or not.
Police programming within Grand Erie schools were paused during the pandemic.
The board chose to extend the pause in 2022 awaiting review of the program to assess how well they are achieving their goals and meeting student needs.
They did not say what school was involved, and will not be making any further statements on the subject.
