The Norfolk Family Health Team is expanding their services for Norfolkâs Seasonal Agricultural Workers.
That was Executive Director Robin Mackie.
They have slowly started to expand their service timing as well, as it use to be workers came down to the area for the summer, but with different crops and weather patterns, workers can be here for as little as a few months in the summer to a full year.
This expansion is based on their commitment to helping out seasonal agricultural workers as best they can, having created a level of trust with everyone over the years.
Some workers are hesitant to seek medical assistance, as they fear it may impact their work schedule, so building that trust was vital.
On top of expanding existing services, they are adding new ones.
They even have a foot specialist coming in, as foot related ailments and injuries are common for a job spent mostly on your feet.
They also know transportation can be an issue, especially if you are feeling unwell, that is why they have a medical van at the ready.
In short, they want to make sure everyone feel comfortable and welcomed in Norfolk as this will be their home away from home.
