A mother’s long shot request on Facebook helped reunite her son with his late father.
Tina Graziano took to multiple Waterford Facebook groups earlier this week after her son, Kyrin Sayles, had lost a sentimental item.
Graziano had bought her husband, Dave, a cross when each of their three sons were born. Each cross had one of the sons’ initials and birthday engraved on it.
After his passing, she gifted the crosses to the boys.
As the date of Dave’s death is approaching, Sayles was missing his dad. He had told his mom he didn’t think he would ever see his dad again, and she told him he needs to look for signs that he is still around all the time.
It was a few days after this conversation that his cross went missing.
While this is something she would normally be upset about, the mother said she just immediately knew it would be returned to her son.
That night she took to Facebook to explain the situation, calling the ask a “long shot” but thinking it was worth a try.
The community came out in droves to share the post across as many pages as possible, getting everyone in town on the hunt for the cross and within twelve hours there was a message in Graziano’s inbox saying it was found.
A woman named Stella had found the cross while visiting Waterford, and left it with Michael Hogg to return it. Hogg placed the cross is a nice box, and with it came a poem from Stella called “A Fathers’ Love”
The poem is about the love a father shares with their children, and notes that death is not the end.
Graziano believes this was a sign from her son’s father that he is always with them.
Graziano said that no words will ever be enough to thank the community of Waterford for coming together and reuniting them with the cross.
She added she is grateful to be part of a community that comes together to help those when they need it most.
