The automated plate recognition is being put to use in Norfolk after it alerted officers about a stolen vehicle.
At around 8:20 p.m. on April 7, police were patrolling Highway 59 in South Walsingham when they were alerted to the stolen vehicle.
Officers stopped the vehicle and took the driver and passenger into custody.
As a result, 36-year-old Sarah Burt of London, Ontario, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and driving while under suspension.
Warren A. Brothers, also of London, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
