Norfolk County Council is set to tackle Paid Parking in our lakeside communities again.
On Tuesday, staff is putting forward recommendations on how to continue, expand, or reduce the programs in Port Dover, Long Point, and Turkey Point.
Of note, there is a residents pass that is being proposed for those living in Norfolk that would cost $25 but would last the entire season.
These passed would be linked to a valid licence plate and Norfolk County residential address.
Staff is recommending that paid parking be enforced from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at $3 an hour in Long Point and Turkey Point and $5 an hour in Port Dover with the first hour being free.
The full report, which can be found here, also goes over suggestions like hiring more bylaw members to enforce parking and talks about projected revenues from the project based off of last years data.
In Port Dover, there are three options.
Option 1:
Similar area as 2022, removing the Clinton Street parking lot and the Lift Bridge Lot at the end of Harbour and adding in the section of Harbour Street from St. George to the pier and St. George Street between Clinton and Walker
County-owned parking lots only: Clinton Street parking lot and Lift Bridge Lot at end of Harbour
Same area as 2022
There are three options in Long Point.
Option 1:
Abigail Becker Parking Lot and adding Erie Boulevard from Howey Ave to Austin Pky and Buck to Pine
Abigail Becker Parking Lot and adding Erie Boulevard from Howey Ave to Austin Pky and Buck to Pike (Attachment 6)
Same area as 2022; Abigail Becker Parking Lot (Attachment 7)
In Turkey point, only one option is on the table at this time.
Option 1:
Adding the section of Cedar Drive from Turkey Point Road to Old Hill Drive
Staff is recommending Option 1 in Port Dover and Option 2 in Long Point.
Council begins at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
