After nearly a decade without a swim team, Delhi District Secondary School has once again formed a team — and they’re competing at OFSAA.
Grade 12 student Kendra Hussey went to the guidance office and asked about starting a swim team.
Now, Hussey, along with Emma House, and Joshua Loncke, are heading to the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships to compete in different events.
Loncke said he was glad to see a swim team come back to the school.
House was also a former swimmer that came back to the sport.
Coach Valerie Couwenberg, a co-op teacher and guidance councillor, said it does come with challenges when the town doesn’t have its own pool.
Even with those challenges, the team came together in time to compete.
The OFSAA swimming championships began February 28 and are running through March 1.
