OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt delivered hope for 2023, and some sobering statistics when talking about driving last year in the province.
The Sergeant says more than 350 people were killed in collisions across the province.
When boating and off road collisions are factored in, the number rises to previously mentioned 423.
It wasn’t just cars and trucks either: 44 motorcycle riders, 29 pedestrians and 12 cyclists were killed last year.
27 of the deaths were off-road crashes, 29 were marine related and 14 were snowmobile collisions.
Schdmit urges all of us to make a difference to keep our roads safe.
He says wear a seat belt, drive sober, don’t be distracted, don’t speed, and stay safe in the winter.
