A well known Norfolk County journalist has sadly passed away.
Several tributes have began rolling out following the death of Chris Thomas.
Thomas worked for years covering local stories in the area for the Simcoe Reformer.
According a blogpost shared by Thomas back in 2006, when he ran for council and stepped away from the reporting desk, he had been a figure at the paper since 1971.
Talk To Thomas was one of his most memorable segments – something that is still in the lexicon of many Norfolk residents to this day.
In recent years, he helped out with a Radio Free Norfolk podcast – conducting interviews and providing insight about local issues.
Below are a few of the reactions we have gathered.
“Sad, sadness Of the passing of Chris “Talk To” Thomas.”
Dennis Travale, Former Mayor
“Hard to believe you are gone Chris Thomas. You were one of a kind. Hope you find a good party in the afterlife.”
Dan Pearce, Former Reporter
“Chris Thomas was a Norfolk journalism legend.
He lived an amazing life and was the light of every single room he entered.
Chris always had a story to tell and had a knack to always make you laugh. Most of all he was a dear friend.
You’ll be missed my friend.”

“On this day in 1843 ‘A Christmas Carol’ was published for the first time becoming an instant classic and one of my personal favourite stories… I’m thinking about my friend Chris Thomas tonight who was taken from us last night. “Talk To Thomas” was one of my very closest friends and he was like family to us. I’ll write more about him when I feel I can do him the justice he richly deserves. For now I’ll simply say Rest easy my friend”
