The Festive Ride program kicked off in Norfolk officially one week again today (Friday) and it’s not off to a great start.
That was Constable Ed Sanchuk.
That new number was a result of the Festive Ride program, an initiative that sees RIDE checks throughout the county at any given hour on any given rode – any day of the week.
Sanchuk added that it’s important for them to be out there all the time, because people drink or use drugs outside of the regular Friday and Saturday night parties.
Sanchuk stressed the importance of planning a way home and making sure a designated driver does not have even a drop of booze or use any form of drugs.
He noted it’s easy to go out with friends, family, or staff members for a festive celebration and easily get carried away.
It may be embarrassing to pick up a phone and call someone to pick you up, but the alternative isn’t worth it.
