The Poppy Campaign is in full swing at Legion’s across Ontario.
In Simcoe, Poppy Chairman Dan Reilly spoke to us about the campaign, where the money goes, and how their local legion is doing.
When it comes to money raised through the poppy campaign, there are rules in place as to where the money can go, and there is one local resource that the Simcoe legion supports that helps not only the veterans but the entire community.
There is no set “goal” this year, but Reilly said community always digs deep to support them during this time.
Outside of the hospital, that money goes to a variety of causes from helping kids, to training service dogs, and assisting those most in need in our community.
While at the Simcoe Legion for the interview, where Reilly was getting poppy boxes ready for volunteers to go out, he gave a status report on how our local legion is doing.
In Simcoe, the traditional Remembrance Day ceremony is scheduled by Carillon Tower.
