The Norfolk General Hospital had some good news to report – the first baby of 2022 was delivered at the hospital on September 8th.
This is the first baby delivered at the facility since these service transitioned to the Brant Community Healthcare System in September of 2021.
Norah Luke was welcomed into the world at 8:50 a.m. weighing in at seven pounds, ten ounces.
The proud parents, Sneha Elizabeth and Deebu Rajan, who live in Simcoe, were
thrilled they could deliver their baby girl close to home.
Baby Norah was delivered by Dr. John Evans, Dr. Jamie Szabo, and Kimberley Tigani,
a registered midwife with Norfolk Roots, by a scheduled Caesarean section.
As part of the release, NGH have announced that they are now able to schedule C-sections.
NGH says that the resumption of these services was made possible following months of aggressive recruitment efforts and their strong partnerships, including St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, which assisted in the training and education of their staff.
NGH is still not available to offer services to women in active labour at this time.
