The sun is shining down today, and you should think twice before heading out (Wednesday) without sunscreen on.
Mother nature is bringing in the summer like weather in full swing, with it feeling like 41 today and the UV index today listed a 9 or very high.
Over the past week, Norfolk has consistently seen UV index’s in the high or very high range.
Recently, myFM in the Morning had the chance to speak with Cheryl Rosen, the Head of Dermatology at University Health Network Toronto Western Hospital, about sunscreen safety.
When picking out the sunscreen, it’s important to read the label as well.
Finally, she noted that it doesn’t necessarily matter if you lather the sunscreen on or if you use it in moderation, what matters is you make sure you are doing it properly.
Health Canada recommends reapplying every 2 hours, but Rosen says it’s good to reapply after 20 minutes, just incase you missed any spots the first time.
Rosen says spray sunscreen is O.K., if that is all you us but lotion is recommended as it offers a fuller coverage. I
If you use spray sunscreen, be sure to apply indoors if you can or in a covered spot away from the wind.
You must also rub it in.
