A former Ward 5 councillor is trying to win his seat back.
Former Simcoe Councillor Peter Black is looking to return to Town Hall in the upcoming municipal election.
Black first joined council in 1991 when it was only the Town Of Simcoe – moving on to be one of two Simcoe councillors when Norfolk County was formed.
He said the one thing he brings to the table that many will not is that deep well of knowledge, noting it is noble to come in with good intentions but you have to know the rules and how to get things done if you want to make changes – something he could do and also help teach with the newly elected members of council.
He said aside from the knowledge, it’s important to have a councillor who is there when you need them.
Black says he has unfinished businesses to take care of as well.
While he accomplished many things while serving the area, he would see push back and defeat whenever he tried to move forward a secondary plan for Norfolk’s Downtown – usually at budget time when money was tight.
He got it back on the table just before he was voted out in the last election, and as routine at this point, it disappeared.
When governing, Black said you need to keep in mind three main pillars: the Economy, the Environment, and Social Justice.
