A Simcoe swimmer is heading to the Canada Games for Special Olympics.
Rosie Hewitt has been swimming with the Simcoe Seals for over 10 years and has been able to attend provincial games.
While sitting at the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre after practice last week, Coach Shirley Shaw was beaming with pride as she spoke of the swimmer’s accomplishments.
The duo added that it took a lot to be approve as one of the competitors for the national competition, including competing against 6 other women for the spot.
Hewitt will be participating in the 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, and 100 backstroke races at the games.
The races are taking place in August in Niagara Falls.
Shaw extended her gratitude to an anonymous donor that allows them to swim four days a week.
