Haldimand-Norfolk’s Medical Officer Of Health anticipates COVID-19 cases to rise with a new Omicron variant, but doesn’t feel this should be a sign of concern for residents who are fully vaccinated.
Dr. Matt Strauss, speaking about the new variant during a meeting yesterday, says that with so many residents vaccinated – or already exposed to COVID- it will likely not lead to very many serious cases.
While Strauss said he’d love to see COVID disappear, he believes that this is the kind of thing people will just have to get use to for years to come.
Strauss said another potential game changer is a pill made by Pfizer that people can take if they catch COVID-19 and is advocating for more of these pills to come to the region to help the most vulnerable population should they contract the virus.
