The Lake Erie Connector Project is a proposed 117km underwater electricity transmission line connecting Ontario with Pennsylvania for the transmission of 1,000 MW of power in either direction.
It is being developed by ITC Investment Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Canada-based Fortis Inc.
The generating station on the Ontario side will be located in Nanticoke.
Six Nations is now considering whether it should become a part-owner in the project that could see $45 million in revenue come to the community over 40 years or longer.
A 60-day community consultation process will begin March 1 and run through the end of April with input sought via webinars.
