Norfolk County staff are continuing to look at the Forest By-law Update.
At the council meeting on Tuesday the group heard a deputation from Cindy Presant, Environmental Director for the Norfolk Field Naturalist, and a presentation from Adam Biddle, Superintendent of Forestry for the county.
During her deputation, Presant, thanked Biddle and his team for the work they have done to get the draft to where it is today.
Presant explained why it is important to protect the forestry in the county.
The group was happy with a lot of parts included in the bylaw, but did have a concern.
During his presentation, Biddle responded to the concerns from the group.
He said they chose to include it in the bylaw because in the act it says a municipal bylaw cannot impede on a normal farm practice.
Other issues were brought up from council, including issues that would bring forward more red tape for those wishing to build in the area.
Mayor Kristal Chopp said she would not be in support of the bylaw if this extra red tape remained in place.
Feedback from this council meeting will be used to further edit the bylaw before Biddle and his team bring another draft to council to be approved.
Both presentations in full can be heard on the Norfolk County Youtube page.
