Nurse Shannon has passed away.
Shannon Adams was a nurse at Norfolk General Hospital, diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called acute plasma cell leukemia.
Her death was announced in her Facebook group on Friday afternoon.
After finding out about the diagnosis in December of 2020, the staff at Norfolk General Hospital, along with members of her extended family, began raising awareness and funds for the Adams by selling items such as t-shirts and bracelets.
In May, Shannon’s husband, Brad, completed a 10-day, 233-kilometre horseback ride through Haldimand and Norfolk. His path was marked by orange ribbons tied on hydro poles and trees along the roads.
The Ride for Registry encouraged people to sign up for the Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell Registry.
She leaves behind her husband, Brad, and their daughters Abby and Emma.
